Ketchikan artist Ricardo Burquez rides past Tongass Trading Company on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2020 at Berth 2. Burquez plans to fix the damaged mural "Tireless Tides" at Dock and Main streets after he returns from a trip to Tijuana, Mexico later this month. The artist plans to repair the mural with supplies donated from the community, as well as his own, but he wants to restore the work for a greater life goal. "I like to do this, because it was a gift for the children and it's nice to get all the community involved, and I'm very happy and obligated to do it, cause it was a very nice experience." said Burquez. In addition to restoring the section of fence that was damaged Burquez will touch-up the entire work and add a few new "creatures" to the seascape. He plans to start restoration work around the months of March and April. Staff photo by Dustin Safranek
