2025 06 17 Canoe Arrival 1
People bless the unnamed Saanya Kwaan canoe with cedar branches in front of the Saxman Community Center on Tuesday. A small crowd gathered at the community center to witness the arrival of the 30-foot strip canoe from the community of Wrangell. A prayer, blessing and speeches were given before the canoe was lifted off it's trailer and placed in front of the community center. The canoe will be launched from Saxman on Sunday, June 29.
