Ken Truitt with the Cape Fox Corporation blesses the Together Tree before the Forest Service cuts down the tree near the Silvis Lake trail on Thursday. The Forest Service chose a 16-foot Lodgepole Pine as this year's Together Tree for the Govenors Mansion in Juneau. After the blessing, the tree was cut down and transported to the USCGC Anthony Petit, which will transport it with ornaments to Juneau. Students from the Pioneer Home Indian Education Pre-School and Houghtaling Elementary School created the ornaments. This was the seventh year the Together Tree came from the Tongass District.
