Valerie Sandusky uses an antique sock maker to demonstrate the process of making socks during the Winter Arts Faire at the Alaska Army National Guard Ketchikan Armory on Saturday. Sandusky's circular sock knitting machine was built between 1910 and 1920. It took her two and a half years to learn, but after years of practice, she can make a pair of socks in two and a half to three hours. The Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council presented the three-day event, which had over 40 artist booths, food, and workshops. Staff photo by Christopher Mullen
